Question on lighting

Hi, I have had 3D programs before but never really learned them as they looked pretty intimidating. My usual art is 2D. I am loving this Curvy but have no idea how to make light that is cast from a lamp. I can see how to use the ambient, base and highlight but is there a way to make light coming down under a shade and hitting a table? I am thinking maybe a cone but how would I make said cone transparent? Or is there another way? Thanks for reading this and all advice is appreciated. :)

very interesting question - i have never tried it in curvy
i use bryce to render which has total control over lighting.

here is one idea for curvy which took about two minutes to do ( very rough )
but shows idea
because each object can be lit differently why not make patches of light with objects ?

Thanks sculptor and that is what I thought. No way to make an object transparent. Wish there was a layers on here that would allow you to copy something and lower opacity over original model. will work with what you have shown. Again thank you. :)

you may be able to get a free legal copy of bryce 5.5 or 7 pro
because daz3d have had various offers
suggest a bit of googling

Transparency can be done in curvy 2 (option menu to select fog) and 3beta using the alpha slider and selecting fog and maybe glow. so each objects alpha/transparency can be controlled. you could probably use a gradient texture to give a better fading of light.
Bryce 7 was free for ages but daz are charging for it again . Daz studio pro is free and will import obj files that curvy exports.
