Re: Floating City [Tempest Citadel]

Quite a few posts have thumbnails that hint at what we'll see in the actual message but in many cases I'm not seeing the images when I open a particular thread. Any way to fix this? There's quite a bit of new stuff to see here.
Thanks,
Pierre

Vector Displacement Painting

I use iClone quite a bit. It's my favorite 3D animation software and it just keeps getting more powerful with each release. The newest version is iClone 6 which adds the ability to use displacement mapping to create detailed models from low-poly meshes. The tutorials use ZBrush because of its suppor...

Re: Places I've Never Been

Silly question but I see that I don't have a thumbnail. Any image I try and put in returns an error message. Is there a trick to this?

Places I've Never Been

I've been making a series of images of imaginary places I've never been. This image, like all the others I've done was started in Curvy 3D, then exported as an .obj file and rendered in Carrara 8 Pro. The final tweaks, color correction and compositing was done in Photoshop. The people came from a ph...

Desert Ship

http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w286/pfontaine2/teapotship_render_v2.jpg Here's yet another image that was started in Curvy 3D, rendered in Carrara and tweaked in Photoshop. I'm really starting to get a hang of this workflow, which is working very well. This image took about and hour and a half ...

Space Buggy

http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w286/pfontaine2/car_render_lo-res.jpg Here's another model I modeled in Curvy3D and rendered in Carrara. This was originally supposed to be a spaceship and the "wheels" were originally modeled to be the engines but once I put the cab on it, it looked too much like...

Another composite image started with Curvy 3D

http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w286/pfontaine2/General%20stuff/cityscape.jpg Here's another quickly done image that started in Curvy 3D for the basic model. Each building is actually built from one Curvy model, stacked on top of itself. The basic texturing was done in Curvy then saved out and c...

Curvy 3D spaceship

http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w286/pfontaine2/General%20stuff/curvyship.jpg This image was created in a few hours with Curvy 3D and Carrara 6 Pro. The basic model was created and textured in Curvy. The textures were then tightened up in Photoshop. The model was then exported as an .obj file an...

Netbook specs question

I haven't used Curvy 3D for quite a while now because I own a netbook that doesn't have any graphics co-processor. I will likely be purchasing a new netbook soon but want to be certain that it can run this great program. Do you know of any netbooks that are capable of running Curvy? What kind of spe...

New Curvy3D-created SciFi artwork

Here's a new image I made today. The big ships are obviously made with Curvy3D and took just about an hour to make. The landscape was done in Carrara 5 and the compositing and effects were done in Photoshop. Thanks! Pierre pfontaine2@hotmail.com http://pierreportfolio.blogspot.com/ http://i179.photo...

All the renders are from Carrara 5.1, a really lovely program if I do say so myself. I took the bump map and texture map out of Curvy, opened them in Photoshop and increased the resolution. I then cleaned them up, added detail and brought them, along with the mesh into Carrara for rendering. I'm sti...

Curvy Samples

In case you missed the images I posted at the end of my query about how to post images, here's a collection of mostly succesful Curvy work I've done over the past year.

Enjoy!
