I found one of my old anatomy sketches based on chunky game style proportions and decided to try and model from the sketch.

I loaded the sketch up as a texture on a loft.

In this picture you can see I have already merged the torso - but have yet to merge the legs and arms.

The basic steps for merging in Curvy 1.5 and earlier are these:

1) Make all the sub objects you need.

2) Make a simple curvy lathe that lies just inside the outline of the sub objects.

3) Put a white Curvy map on the simple lathe and adjust the curvy displacement so that the surface displaces to cover all the sub objects.

4) Put a grey curvy map back on the simple lathe.

5) Press F7 to show the groups panel, and drag all the sub objects as children of the simple lathe.

6) Choose the menu: Object/Apply to Parent/Add

7) Hide or delete the now not needed sub objects. They should now be 'baked' into the curvy map of the simple lathe.

...

In Curvy 2 the process will be - select all sub objects and click 'Merge' - job done!

thanks for that simon.
i dont quite get it, i have had a go but not with great results.
something did merge though.
so will keep on trying there.
actually i was thinking merge meant something else
ie merging the legs arms and head to the torso.
do i use a similar method?
:?

incidentally i am running it on vista home premium
when i try to undo from the top menu. edit-undo nothing happens
cntrl -z works though. just thought you might like to know.

Thanks for tip ctrl-z, will check it out.

Merging arms to body is usually 'faked' in Curvy by lining up one object carefully with another so they are overlapping but with a faintly visible seam.

Curvy2 will has a full merge that does what is suggested.
