Drop to Surface

In the perspective view line up the viewpoint over the piece you want to drop. Then use Mesh/Fit To/Drop to Surface (of Visible objects)

Note that I used Subdivide without smoothing to increase the mesh density of the dropped part, and after it dropped a little to far I just used the move tool, holding shift, to pull the dropped piece out of the head mesh a little.

You can drop to make more complex surfaces too
