I've been making a series of images of imaginary places I've never been. This image, like all the others I've done was started in Curvy 3D, then exported as an .obj file and rendered in Carrara 8 Pro. The final tweaks, color correction and compositing was done in Photoshop. The people came from a photograph I took while on vacation in England last year. The whole image took about 5-6 hours to complete but done over a series of slow afternoon at work.

I love how grand and dramatic it looks towering up over the grass. The lighting looks very natural and I am surprised how well the people fit in with the 3D - very cool.

Re: Places I've Never Been
Silly question but I see that I don't have a thumbnail. Any image I try and put in returns an error message. Is there a trick to this?

Re: Places I've Never Been
You did the right thing with the thumbnail... but there was an unknown error. I reuploaded your image (without a space) and it stated working. Oddly the first time I tried to download the image from photobucket it had a jpg error, and I had to use a different download method to get a working image.
Thanks for mentioning it so I could fix it
