Curvy Model Challenge

Post by Monsoon »

One of the things the original Curvy we purchased excelled at was utilitarian modeling. Without mesh tools, without all the other additions of later versions, the 1.0 build, imho, was well worth the 89 bucks just because of this.

Buckets, benches, trellises, cinderblocks, combs, staplers, wirepliers, barrels, tents, backpacks, buttons, dinnerware, tires, safety pins, diapers, babyfood jars, lanterns, paper bags, vases, flowers, wrenches, hammers, nails, boards.........on and on. All these listed here I've made with Curvy in a skinny minute with just lofts, lathes, lines and control of the curves.

So much fun!

Here's how the game is played.....imagine you are a 3d artist working on some imaginary scene. You're moving right along until you realize you wish you had a model ironing board and laundry basket to go in that Bryce laundromat you are building. But you aren't a modeler and you've searched all over the web and found nothing. It seems hopeless until you discover Curvy......

So the idea is for a person to place an order for a model they need real fast and the challengers fill the order by building the model with Curvy in the least amount of time. Post the pic of your model here in the thread with your track time and the person who placed the order chooses his/her favorite and then that artist places the next order......and so on. Fully textured using Curvy's capabilities would be best.

And so, I'll start the game and if anyone's interested in playing then just join right in.....

Model Order #1

For my scene I need...................A table fan and a pair of bedroom slippers.

On your mark, get set, .......go!!

I've got a fan finished but I'm havin' a more difficult time with the bedroom slippers. I thought it would be the other way around........almost done though.

Ok, this is my attempt to fill the first round order.....

The fan took 2 hours from first lathe to render straight away.

The bedroom slippers took about 3 hours to figure out exactly how I was going to do it (much deleting and starting over) but only 15 minutes to actually construct. They leave much to be desired but would work for our needy artist.

The hardest part I think was getting the sole right with proper thickness without using mesh tools, just straight lathes.

But the Needy Artists isn't sure...he wants to see more. Bring 'em on!

Ok. The original point of the challenge was to hone modeling skills by attempting specific items. But there were no takers there.

So the game has changed. Great....anything to keep it going in here. But I'm somewhat confused.

Is the point now to add to your pic bigH? How does one do this? Or do you mean just add a pic of our own?

I'm not clear on what's going on here.

Opaque,

No reason we can't have several challenges running in this thread. Along with bigH's 'add to this', I'm gonna start round 2 of the item modeling seeing as I won the first round by default lol.....

The needy artist is doing a pic of his spring garden. Plenty of plants from Plant Studio and Aliencodec. But he has no tools.

The artist needs............. a rake, a hoe, and a shovel.

So c'mon, this will be an easy one with Curvy!!!

No, it doesn't have to be the 'best'. This is not a contest. All it has to be is your attempt and contribution. Your 'exercise' if you will.

Well the rake will be more visible when I do the other two objects.
Everything Curvy except the box the ring is in.
