Curve Bevel

Post by Simon »

When working with Slabs and Mesh Brush Strokes the exact points making up the curve are extruded into a mesh. If there are lots of points in the curve, the mesh is very dense.

To help with this I've added an improved Curve Optimize tool to reduce the curve points while keeping the shape. However - if you reduce the curve it ends up smoothing the normals too... and the old way to fix that was to increase the number of points again!

Curve Bevel works in tandem with optimise to sharpen and preserve the corners while simplifying the arcs and straights. This is much like the bevels on the existing primitives.

The result is efficient Slabs and Strokes, making doodles like this

The strokes in the middle are Curve Bevelled and have an efficient profile. The Strokes in the background were made with a different technique and are denser meshes.
