How many more years before 4 hits public consuption and I can spend my money updating from 3 to 4

At a rough guess 1-3 years. But there should be a useful beta much sooner than that.

It's going to take rather much longer than previous editions as this time it is fitting into my spare time and has to take second place to paid work. (Previous versions I took time off my fulltime job to dedicate straight months at a time to Curvy).

Hopefully the beta phase will be rewarding for everyone - and then the 4.0 release will be when it is ready for more general use.
