Drawing and coming up with concept art is hard... so let a computer do the hard graft!
Is it Art? Who knows - but it is great fun to play with.
1) Craiyon - Free AI art:

2) Midjourney - Beta this, great looking results:
https://www.midjourney.com/home/
Prompt: "woman ranger wielding a sword adventurer forest dynamic"
AI produced art - with no human work in a minute (Midjourney)
You can even use it to make seamless tiling textures for use on your models:
Prompt: ornate armor texture greyscale

Re: AI Art
It’s an intriguing idea. Not sure what I think of it. Might make some folks potential customers (those that think art is easy and fast) go cheap rather than hire an actual artist.
Re: AI Art
Yeah, it's something I'm pretty wary of myself--I think AI art works best as a tool/supplement to the creation of art rather than an outright substitution, but there are already quite a few "advocates" out there who really want the latter to happen. You're absolutely right, though--this is pretty solid for getting basic ideas and concepts down!

Re: AI Art
I've been playing with another AI tool, openai's playground davinci text generator
eg: Create character descriptions
"write character descriptions for 20 rpg non player characters."
https://beta.openai.com/playground/p/hW ... 1bHBtLiFuB
Then plugging the results into Midjourney:
You can use the text generator to write stories, dialogs, and all kinds of other things. It's a lot of fun to play with.
