I've been looking into SketchFab, an easy way to upload and view models in 3D in your browser.

It's not to bad. I may use it as well when I get some more models for printing ready. Nice clean render, easy controls. What's not to like? There's a special going on now, $69 for 2 years with 200mb file size upload limit. Daaang!

I got Sketchfab working with Curvy models.

1) Export to OBJ from Curvy

2) You need to fixup the texture paths. Open the MTL in notepad and remove the file path from all the textures... eg:

Code: Select all

c:/curvy3d/project/texture.JPG
becomes simply

Code: Select all

texture.JPG
3) Zip up the OBJ, MTL, and textures in one file

4) Upload the zip at http://sketchfab.com/

You can then experiment with the lighting, environment and other options in their web based 3D model viewer, and share with the world.
